Scenario Types Explaination
Skills-based Scenarios

Scenarios which allow students to demonstrate the skills they already know.

Knowledge is applied within clearly-defined steps or procedures.

 

Problem-Based Scenarios Scenarios which provide a framework and an environment where students can investigate a particular problem or issue.

Can require:
  • Identification of the problem
  • Identification of the cause
  • Recommendation
Issues-based Scenarios

Scenarios which all a framework for exploring human position on a particular issue. These scenarios normally have differing points of view as to the best action to take.

Can require the student to identify the issues involved and take them into account when recommending a course of action.

 

Speculative-based scenarios

Scenarios where students collect or are presented with current knowledge and asked to consider what might happen in the future.

 

Gaming-based scenarios Overcoming barriers to learning through interactive gaming approach to learning. Gaming scenarios provide fun engaging interactive entertaining learning, as opposed to theory based learning. This approach motivates and immerses students in the material so they learn more effectively.
